Juicing is a powerful tool that can accelerate your progress towards optimal health. Virtually every health authority, even conventional doctors, recommend 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits per day but very few of us actually get that.

In my life, I have found that juicing is a simple and easy way to virtually guarantee that you will reach your daily target for vegetables. I typically juice every day and consume from a pint to a quart of green juice daily, but when time is an issue, I turn to Organic Greens & Red from Douglas Labs to ensure i get my required daily dose of Veggies and fruits, all organic and high in fiber and vitamin C content.

Juicing or supplementing with  Organic Greens & Red also helps you absorb all those wonderful nutrients from the vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making less-than-optimal food choices over many years. Juicing or powder will help to "pre-digest" the veggies, so you receive most of the nutrition rather than having it go down the toilet.

Another benefit of juicing or Organic Greens & Red is that it allows you to add a wider variety of vegetables to your diet that you might not normally enjoy eating whole.

I love saving the pulp of juicing to feed my plants and it also makes great muffins too.

What makes the Organic Greens & Red powder so amazing?
Organic Greens and Reds powder is a healthful supplement for those who wish to supplement their diet with this concentrated phytonutrient blend of grasses, vegetables and botanicals. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower, offer protective sulforophane compounds known for their ability to induce phase 2 detoxifying enzymes.

This product contains a wide assortment of organic fruits including raspberry, strawberry and blueberry to provide potent antioxidant protection. It also supplies 400% of the Daily Value for Vitamin C. In addition, fiber from flax seed and digestive enzymes
are included to support overall gastrointestinal health.

ORAC value (the antioxidant strength of substance for its ability to fight free radicals).
for Organic Greens and Reds is approximately 3,000 μmoleTE per serving which is the ORAC equivalent of 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables. While dietary supplements do not take the place of a healthy, well-balanced diet, Organic

Greens and Reds can serve as an excellent way to help meet the daily fruit and vegetable serving recommendations, for you and all your family

During the Christmas season, there are plenty of sweets passed around, baked good shared, wine to toast but all with a little backup and bloat.

It is hard to stay on track with the Festive season, but here are a couple of tips you can do to help out your digestion and colon this season.

1. Take digestive enzymes will all foods which are cooked, this will help you digest your foods fully and place less stress on your digestion. High quality digestive enzymes are key here.

2. Intake extra probiotics, in the form of high quality nutritionals, an extra capsule per day  or increase food varieties if you are not sensitive: kefir, and kombuncha

3. Drink towards a smooth bowel movement, by adding Traditional Medicine Laxative Tea, this can be found at most grocery and health food stores., a natural way of gently stimulating bowel movements

4. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxic and congesting foods during this season, aim for at least 12 glasses per day

This week we are going to focus on the Coconut, and clear up some misunderstanding.
Also i have great Christmas alternative for you below, I love baking on this season and i wanted to share with you how you can take any recipe and make it your own in a healthier version. Enjoy and please take care of your self and the only health you have.

Coconut Almond Smoothie
¾ cup (190 ml) coconut milk
1 tablespoon (15 ml) smooth almond butter
½ tablespoon (7.5 ml) pure cocoa powder
1 scoop protein powder
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a blender and process until well mixed. Add the protein powder and blend briefly. Makes 1 serving.
Notes:
If using unsweetened coconut milk, you may want to use a small amount of natural sweetener such as pure maple syrup, unpasteurized honey, pure vanilla extract, or a pinch of stevia.
Use whey, hemp, rice, or fermented soy protein powder. The amount of protein varies from brand to brand so use enough to obtain approximately 10 to 20 grams of protein (the label will tell you how many grams are in a scoop).
Add Udo’s oil or Udo’s DHA oil for omega-3 benefits. Or add chia or salba seeds for omega-3 benefits plus fiber.

Topic of the week- Coconut, is it really that healthy?

Coconut Milk and Other Alternatives to Cow’s Milk

I often have clients who are sensitive to dairy or who want to limit or eliminate their intake of cow’s milk. Their biggest concern is what they can use instead of milk. Fortunately, there are a lot of alternatives available now and you don’t have to go to a health food store to purchase them; they’re available on the shelves and in the refrigerated sections of most grocery stores.

You can substitute rice milk, almond milk, goat’s milk, coconut milk,or hemp milk (this one doesn’t taste very good, in my opinion) for cow’s milk. It’s best to choose the unsweetened varieties, if possible. Some of these may have sweeteners added to them to improve their taste but they are typically natural ones.

My favourites include vanilla flavoured, unsweetened almond milk (such as the Blue Diamond brand) and coconut milk. And now you don’t have to get your coconut milk from a can; So Delicious brand makes a variety of Coconut Milk Beverages from organic coconut milk. They’re packaged in the 1.89 liter milk-type cartons and can found in the refrigerated section of some grocery stores, either with the other non-dairy alternatives or in the organics/natural area. They even came out with a

Christmas baking with Coconut Flour.

Here are simple things you can do to increase the value of your Christmas baking with a high nutrient punch

1. Replace flour for, coconut flour, almond flour, or quinoa flour

2. Replace sweetener for, stevia powder, xyitiol, molasses, brown rice syrup, or even unpasteurized honey

3. Add some whey or vegan protein powder, this will help reduce the glycemic value "sugar" of your baked good

4. Replace the shortening or oil for coconut oil, you can get flavored or non flavored variety

5. Replace dairy for coconut, rice, almond or hemp milk

6. Add fibre, flax mill, salba seeds, or chia seeds, this is a suttle way of adding fiber to your baked goods without altering the taste too much, and will help reduce the glycemic value "sugar" of your baked good

7. Replace dried or canned fruits with the real stuff

Have a Happy Holiday
